Managing the Practicalities of Effective Transition from KS2 to KS3
Who is it for?
All Year 6 teachers, primary subject curriculum leaders, secondary Year 7 teachers, secondary subject leaders, teaching assistants.
What are the benefits?
This course will ensure that staff involved in transition in primary and secondary schools have an understanding of the most effective way of creating a ‘culture of preparation’ to ensure that all students are supported in their transition from KS2 to KS3.
The sessions focus on the five transition bridges (administrative, social and personal, curriculum, pedagogy, and autonomy and managing learning). Throughout the programme, the barriers to effective transition will be considered, case studies of best practice will be explored and examples of effective transition practices will be provided to give colleagues practical ideas and suggestions for immediate implementation, to ensure that cross phase working is continuous rather than a one-off event.
